Wildcats Go Perfect 6-0 at Philadelphia Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. -
Northwestern's women's fencing team remained undefeated on the season as it won all six of its matches Sunday at the Philadelphia Invitational hosted by Temple University. The victories raised NU's dual meet record to 16-0.
The Wildcats' closest match came against their first opponent of the day, topping Penn by a narrow 14-13 margin. Northwestern comfortably defeated the remainder of its foes, defeating Sacred Heart 15-12, North Carolina 16-11, Temple 18-9, Drew 21-6 and Duke 19-8.
NU's foil squad was a perfect 6-0 on the day, while the epée went 5-1 and the sabre group went 3-3.
Sam Nemecek was the top individual performer for the Wildcats, posting a perfect 14-0 record in the foil. Kayley French notched the best record for Northwestern in the epée as she went 11-1 while Joanna Niklinska also had a solid day with a 9-2 mark.
The Wildcats return to action this weekend when they participate in the USFA North American Cup in Atlanta.
