EVANSTON, Ill.-- Four Northwestern field hockey athletes took time from their off-season schedules to attend the "Train with the `Cats" preseason clinic in Hartland, Wis., last Saturday.

"It is important to our staff and players to get out and work with the Illinois and Wisconsin athletes," head coach Kelly McCollum said. "We feel that it is one of our responsibilities to aid in the growth of field hockey in our region."

Seniors Amanda Care and Christina Foley and sophomores Meagan Harvey and Stephanie Fortson spent the day helping to prepare 50 regional junior high and high school players for their upcoming seasons. The clinic consisted of various skill stations that focused on teaching defense, passing and shooting. Another station was set up to teach the athletes a solid strength and fitness regiment, which was led by NU assistant strength and conditioning coach Jason Pullara.

"Our Futures program athletes and coaches, as well as the local club teams, are doing a tremendous job with athlete development," McCollum said. "We enjoy coming out and working with our local programs."

"Train with the `Cats" is now in its the second year and the Wildcat field hockey staff is again pleased with another successful turnout.
