The Northwestern University Athletics Department is committed to developing student-athletes into well rounded members of the community and society. The Wildcat GIVE BACK Program is a way for student-athletes to get away from the rigors of practice, competition, and class work, in exchange for giving something rewarding back to the community.
Northwestern Department of Athletics and Recreation mission statement:
The mission of the Department of Athletics and Recreation is consistent with the University's commitment to the total education of its students as well as service to the University community. In keeping with the University's commitment to teaching, the Department's coaches and staff provide challenges to young men and women to fulfill their individual physical and intellectual potential in preparation for lives of leadership and productive citizenship.
Goals of the Wildcats GiveBack Program:
- To provide opportunities for student-athletes to interact with the local community and the university community
- To provide an opportunity for student-athletes to improve personal, social, and leadership skills
- To promote an organized service group for student-athletes
- To promote positive interaction between the athletic community and the university community
- To provide the community access to an organized network of volunteers
- To promote Northwestern University as a community resource
