BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Northwestern fell on the road to Indiana, 83-59, in its final regular-season game of the 2006-07 campaign. A.J. Glasauer led the way for NU, recording 18 points on an 8-of-15 shooting performance. Kristin Cartwright, Sara Stutz and Kaitlin McInerney all joined Glasauer in double-digits.
"We were out-hustled all around today," head coach Beth Combs said. "Give Indiana credit; they came out with heart and intensity. We need to refocus and regroup and get ready for the Big Ten Tournament."
The Hoosiers sprinted out to an 8-0 lead before Glasauer (Freiburg, Germany/Theodor-Heuss Gymnasium) exploded for back-to-back treys and an easy layup to tie the game. Indiana responded with a 7-0 run to build a 19-12 lead over the next four minutes.
IU pulled away midway through the first half, scoring 30 points to NU's 12 to take a commanding 49-22 lead at the break.
Glasauer tallied 12 of her team-high 18 points in the first half.
The Wildcats outscored IU in the second half thanks to a 54 percent shooting effort. NU nailed 4-of-7 from 3-point land, pulling its percentage up to 40 on the night.
But Indiana's strong first-half performance was enough to seal the victory.
Glasauer and Cartwright (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) have both scored in double-figures in four out of the last five games. Cartwright contributed a team-high seven rebounds to accompany her 10 points.
McInerney (Oak Brook, Ill./Benet Academy) and Stutz (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) each finished with 11 points.
The Wildcats have a bye in this weekend and await Sunday's outcomes to reveal its opponent in the opening round of the 2007 Big Ten Tournament. Northwestern is the 11th seed and will play the 6th seed at approx. 4:30 CT on Thursday, March 1 at Conseco Field House in Indianapolis, Ind.
