AUSTIN, Texas -- A final-round 306 sealed Northwestern's victory on Monday at the Challenge at Wolfdancer.
NU finished the event five strokes ahead of its closest competition, Iowa State, and crushed the rest of the 13-team field as only Middle Tennessee State was able to finish within 10 strokes of the 'Cats.
Individually, Katie Trachok (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) led Northwestern with an 11-over 227, which was good for a sixth-place finish overall. Rebecca Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) and Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy) finished just one and two shots back of Trachok, respectively, at the Challenge as Lederhausen finished eighth and Hong 11th.
Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) also turned in a top-20 finish, as she shot a 17-over 233, which was good for a 16th-place tie. Brittany Johnston (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) also competed in the tournament finishing 33rd overall after shooting a two-day total of 23-over 239.
Hannah Burke of Baylor took the individual title with a 1-over 217.
The win was Northwestern's first of the season. The Wildcats now take their winter hiatus before returning to action in February.
