EVANSTON, Ill. -- After a one-week hiatus Northwestern's women's golf team returns to Michigan this weekend (Sept. 30-Oct. 1) in search of another high finish, this time at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The Wildcats opened the 2006 fall season by playing in the Lady Northern in East Lansing, Mich. The 'Cats made the journey worth their while, finishing second behind the host school, Michigan State.
Northwestern relied on balanced scoring throughout the weekend, led by Brittany Johnston (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit). The junior placed ninth with an 8-over 224 (75-73-76).
The other five Wildcat starters were not far behind, as no Wildcat finished worse than 19th in a tournament that was full of Big Ten rivals.
Northwestern will see five teams they faced at the Lady Northern: Big Ten rivals Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State, as well as Toledo. Rounding out the field are Baylor, Eastern Michigan, Oklahoma and SMU.
The Wolverine Invitational is played on the U-M Golf Course, a par-71 layout. The 'Cats will play 54 holes (36 Saturday, 18 Sunday) on the 6,098-yard course.
Live results for the 54-hole invitational can be found at Wolverine Invitational.
