'Cats Place Six on IWLCA All-Region Team

BOSTON -- The IWLCA today recognized six Wildcats who were named to the 2006 IWLCA First Team All-West/Midwest Team. Honored were Kristen Kjellman, Sarah Albrecht, Lindsey Munday, Lindsay Finocchiaro, Aly Josephs and Laura Glassanos. The six first team selections were the most of any school in all four regions.
For Kjellman, Glassanos and Munday it marked the third straight honor for the trio and the third straight first team selection for Kjellman. Glassanos and Albrecht both are repeat first teamers and it's the first selection overall for both Josephs and Finocchiaro.
The IWLCA honored a total of 128 student-athletes in Division I with a selection on one of the All-Regional teams. These athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American teams, which will be announced on May 30. The IWLCA and US Lacrosse will honor the National All-Americans at an awards banquet on June 10, 2006 in Baltimore, Md.
The Wildcats are presently in Boston in preparation for the NCAA finals this weekend. No. 4-seed Northwestern plays top-seeded Duke at 6 p.m. ET tomorrow night at Boston University's Nickerson Field.
