ZHUHAI, China -- Northwestern freshman Chelsea Davis (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) competed in the 3-meter event at the FINA China Grand Prix meet Sunday, April 23, finishing sixth in the field of 26 divers.

Davis bested 20 international divers, and earned an invitation to the USA Grand Prix meet May 11-14 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. with her impressive performance.

The field featured the best divers in the world, and the event was won by 2004 Olympic gold medalist Guo Jingjing of China.

"This meet was great international experience for Chelsea," NU head diving coach Tom Michaël said. "The best of the best came to this meet, and for Chelsea to finish sixth was a great accomplishment."

Davis won the 3-meter title at the Big Ten Championships this year before becoming Northwestern's first-ever female diving All-American with a 14th-place finish on the 1-meter board at the NCAA Championships.
