DUBLIN, Ohio -- Northwestern is positioned ninth after the first two rounds of the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational, which is being held this year at The Golf Club of Dublin due to ongoing construction at OSU's home course, the site of this year's NCAA National Championships.
Junior Alice Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood) led the Wildcats on Saturday, shooting a 3-over 147 (71-76), good enough for 13th place. She is 11 strokes back of Auburn's Maria Martinez, who carded rounds of 69 and 67 for an 8-under 136.
As a team, the Wildcats posted rounds of 300 and 305 for a 29-over 605. Auburn holds a 15-stroke lead over Purdue. Michigan State (fourth), Penn State (seventh) and Ohio State (eighth) are in front of the 'Cats.
Sophomore Katie Trachok (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) is in 28th place at 6-over. She fired rounds of 73 and 77 for a two-round score of 150.
Junior Heather Scholten (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) and freshman Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy) are 56th and 57th, respectively, with a 10-over 154 (78-76) and an 11-over 155 (79-76). Sophomore Brittany Johnston (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) is in 73rd place at 22-over (78-88=166).
The final round begins at 7:30 a.m. CT on Sunday.
