COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Freshman Chelsea Davis (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) peformed like a veteran in her NCAA Zone diving debut over the weekend to advance to the NCAA Championships.
Davis is one of 11 female divers from Zone C to advance, and the first Northwestern diver -- male or female -- to move on the NCAA Championships.
Friday during the first day of competition, Davis qualified 16th on the 1-meter board during the prelims, then jumped all the way up to a seventh-place finish in the finals.
Davis then finished 10th on the 3-meter board during Saturday's action. She did not compete in Sunday's platform event.
Sophomore Beth Campbell (Burr Ridge, Ill./Fenwick) also competed in Zone C for the Wildcats, finishing 12th on the platform, 35th in the 1-meter and 40th on the 3-meter board.
Davis joins teammate Andrea Hupman (Lawrenceville, Ga./Brookwood) at the NCAA Championships, taking place March 16-18 in Athens, Ga.
