Northwestern No.1 in Bounce Entertainment/Inside Lacrosse Poll

BALTIMORE, Md. - Northwestern earned the top spot in the season's first Bounce Entertainment/Inside Lacrosse Women's Division I Media Poll. The defending national champions earned 14 first-place votes. Second-ranked Duke received two first-place votes.
Princeton, Maryland and North Carolina round out the top five, followed by Dartmouth, Virginia, Boston University, Johns Hopkins and Penn State.
Other top 20 teams include Georgetown, Loyola, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Towson, Cornell, Stanford, Richmond, Pennsylvania and Hofstra.
This year the Wildcats return four IWLCA all-Americans, including Sarah Albrecht (Sr., Braintree, Mass./Thayer Academy), Laura Glassanos (Sr., Hingham, Mass./Thayer Academy), Lindsey Munday (Sr., Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) and 2005 NCAA Honda Award winner Kristen Kjellman (Jr., Westwood, Mass/Westwood), from last year's team that turned in an impeccable 21-0 record.
The Wildcats captured Northwestern University's first NCAA team title since 1941 and became the first team outside the Eastern Time Zone to win an NCAA lacrosse title, male or female, at any level.
The Bounce Entertainment/Inside Lacrosse media poll comes out every Monday during the season and is comprised of pollsters from various media outlets throughout the country. Bounce Entertainment, the sponsor of the poll, is a conglomerate made up of entities geared toward expanding women's lacrosse and having a direct impact on the lives of girls playing lacrosse. Bounce Entertainment was started by U.S. Women's team member Crista Samaras.
