EVANSTON, Ill. - Redshirt freshmen Adam Hahn (Hartford, Wis./Hartford Union) and Corey Wootton (Rutherford, N.J./Don Bosco Prep), along with true freshman Sherrick McManis (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) were honored with postseason laurels from separate publications. Hahn earned second-team Freshman All-America honors from Rivals.com, while Wootton and McManis were named to The Sporting News 2006 Big Ten All-Freshman Team.

Hahn was just one of seven Big Ten newcomers to be selected to the first and second All-America teams. Sophomore running back Tyrell Sutton (Akron, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban) was Rival.com's runner-up in national freshman of the year voting in 2005.

There are 56 total players who achieved Rivals.com Freshman All-America status.

Wootton and McManis were named to The Sporting News All-Freshman Team. Wootton, who received a medical hardship after missing the final 10 games of 2005 (his true freshman season) because of an injury, led the Wildcat defense with 9.0 tackles, which included 4.5 sacks. He picked off two passes and ended the year with 51 total tackles.

McManis turned in one of NU's most impressive special teams/defensive seasons for a freshman in recent history. As a kickoff return specialist, McManis returned 28 kicks for an average of 21.0 yards per return. As a cornerback, McManis recorded five pass breakups and his one interception happened to come from likely Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith. McManis also forced one fumble.
