Evanston, Ill. --The Wildcat field hockey program hosted Dinner with the 'Cats, an evening that brought together current players, alums, parents and supporters of the program on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Patten Gym.
This Homecoming weekend event was "a wonderful opportunity to gather our parents, alumni and friends of NU field hockey to have dinner with the team and celebrate our season and our seniors," said Head Coach Kelly McCollum. The evening featured well-known journalist and author and prominent NU alum, Christine Brennan. In an inspirational speech, Brennan discussed women's athletics, what it means to be a Northwestern alum and Title IX.
A silent auction was held in conjunction with the dinner to help the team continue to fundraise for their Spring Break trip to England. "I couldn't have asked for a better homecoming event for our alumni," McCollum said. "This dinner gave us an opportunity to hear a fantastic speaker who has a deep connection to Northwestern and is an important national figure in the advancement of women's opportunities in athletics. We have a tremendous group of parents and supporters who are involved with our program and our staff is so grateful for all our parents have done and continue to do to enable their daughters to be the best in all of their endeavors."
