KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Led by senior Alice Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood), Northwestern's 16th-ranked Wildcats turned in their best team round (20-over 304) of the three-day Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships, but it was not enough to help the Wildcats move up the standings.
As a result, Northwestern finished 14th (316-308-304=928) at the event, which included many of the nation's top teams.
Kim, who opened the tournament with a 12-over 83, shot a 1-over 72 on Sunday and finished in a 43rd-place tie with teammate Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy). Kim shot a 19-over 232 (83-77-72) while Hong had rounds of 78, 77 and 77 (19-over 232).
Senior Heather Scholten (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) was the Wildcats' top finisher, placing 30th with a 15-over 228 (76-77-75).
Juniors Katie Trachok (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and Brittany Johnston (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) finished 66th and 72nd, respectively.
The Wildcats played this tournament without Liliana Alvarez (Durango, Mexico), who was competing with a Mexican national team in South Africa.
Final results for the 54-hole event can be found at Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships.
