Tom Carlin Named Assistant Men's Soccer Coach

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head men's soccer coach Tim Lenahan has announced the addition of Tom Carlin as an assistant coach for the Wildcats' men's soccer program. Carlin comes to Northwestern from Arcadia University, where he served as head men's soccer coach for the past six seasons.
While at Arcadia, Carlin led the Knights to three Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) championships, garnered four PAC Coach of the Year accolades and earned three NCAA Division III Championship berths, advancing as far as the championship quarterfinals.
"We are very fortunate to have Tom with us here at Northwestern," Lenahan said. "He has been one of the top head coaches at Division III over the last six years and his record proves it. He has a winning mentality and great relationship with the players."
Under Carlin's direction, the Knights reached as high as No. 6 in national rankings and compiled an overall record of 99-23-9--including a 9-3 mark in conference tournaments.
Carlin also served as Coordinator of Athletic Recruitment at Arcadia. He recruited numerous All-PAC and Academic All-PAC members, 10 Mid-Atlantic All-Region members and two NSCAA All-Americans.
Before becoming head men's soccer coach, Carlin was a graduate assistant for Arcadia's women's soccer team, where he helped lead the Knights to a conference title and their first NCAA Division III Championship appearance in program history.
As a player, Carlin was a three-time first team All-PAC member for the Knights and was named team captain three-consecutive years.
Carlin earned a bachelor's degree in history with a secondary education minor and a master's degree in education leadership at Arcadia from 1995-2002. He received his NSCAA "Premier" License in 2002 and his USSF "A" License in 2001.
