EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Northwestern freshman Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy) shot a 2-over par 147 (70-76) during the first two rounds of the Mary Fossum Invitational hosted by Michigan State, and leads the field by one stroke heading into Sunday's final round.
Northwestern sits in third place in the team standings at 22-over par, four strokes behind the host Spartans in first. Southern Methodist is one stroke back of Michigan State.
Junior Alice Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood) is tied for 10th at 5-over for NU, while sophomore Brittany Johnston (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) shot a 2-under par 70 in the second round and is currently 6-over and in 15th place for the tournament.
Junior Heather Scholten (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) is in 38th position at 12-over par with Katie Trachok (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) rounding out the Wildcat squad at 15-over in 53rd place.
The final round begins at 8 a.m. CT Sunday morning, Sept. 18.
