IRVINE, Calif. -- Sophomore Andrea Hupman (Lawrenceville, Ga./Brookwood) turned in a third-place performance Thursday night in the 100 freestyle event at the 2005 ConocoPhillips National Championships in Irvine, Calif.

Hupman qualified third for the finals with a career-best 55.79 during her preliminary heat. She followed that up with a 56.02 in the finals, which enabled her to hang on to her third-place position.

Hupman is joined at the meet by teammates Michelle Oeser, Carrera Harris, Katie Braun and incoming freshman Haley Fry. The meet runs through August 7.

Following this weekend's events, Hupman and men's swimmers Matt Grevers and Mike Alexandrov will travel to Turkey for the World University Games Aug. 12-17.
