EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern women's lacrosse team, which made history by becoming the first team outside the Eastern Time Zone to win an NCAA lacrosse title, is among several national championship teams that will be honored in a special White House reception on Tuesday, July 12. President George Bush will welcome the Wildcats and their official travel party to the annual NCAA Champions Day at the White House.

After arriving Tuesday morning, the team will be escorted to the State Floor and tour several of the historic White House rooms. President Bush will then join the teams on the State Floor and pose for photos with each team. At the conclusion of the photo session each team will be escorted to its seats on the White House's South Lawn. One representative from each team will be seated on stage for the President's remarks.

"I am so psyched for our players," said NU head coach Kelly Amonte Hiller. "There is no more special honor that to be received by the President, and I could not be more thrilled that our program gets to be a part of this day at the White House. Meeting President Bush is something our players will never forget."

At the conclusion of President Bush's remarks he will pose with each individual team representative, who will present the President with a jersey or other item. The Wildcats plan to present President Bush with a pair of custom-made sticks from Warrior, a "Perfect Season" t-shirt, and a hat.

Northwestern finished the 2005 season with a perfect 21-0 record, defeating Mount St. Mary's, Princeton, Dartmouth and defending NCAA champion Virginia en route to the title.
