EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head coach Jimmy Tierney has announced the addition of Rotem Peled (Maccabim, Israel/Maccabim Reut) and Jill Forster (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) to NU's incoming Class of 2009. Peled has signed a national letter of intent while Forster has accepted an offer of admission to the University; both will matriculate to NU in the fall of 2005.
Peled is a strong butterflier who has enjoyed international success at European youth competitions. In addition to her swimming credentials, Peled received the Academic Award for Excellence every year during high school.
"We are extremely excited to have Rotem, a very talented butterflier, join our squad," Tierney said. "With the graduation of Christy Olin, Rotem will become an immediate player. She has the potential to be a scorer at the top end of the Big Ten and hopefully at the NCAA Championships as well."
Forster, an Academic All-American from Centerville, Ohio, led her team to the 2004 state championship. She qualified for the state competition all four years of high school. She and her three sisters have three times comprised the "Forster relay," competing together at Nationals.
"We are excited to have another breastroker to add to our training group," Tierney said. "Jill comes from a great swimming family and a successful club program under coach Mark Davis. She will be valuable throughout the year for our dual meet depth with Jessie Bailis and fellow freshman, Hayley Fry."
