Wildcats Announce 2005 Spring Schedule

EVANSTON, Ill. - Asked about the importance of the spring intercollegiate campaign for her team -- which returns all but two players from last year -- Northwestern head field hockey coach Kelly McCollum is upbeat.
"With a large majority of the 2004 squad returning, our staff is excited about the opportunities for play and experience for our younger players this spring," she said.
The Wildcats get right into the swing of things, hosting a Play Day at the Trienens Indoor Facility here in Evanston the first Sunday in April and their junior recruiting day the following Sunday (April 10). The 'Cats also will compete in Iowa's Play Day on Saturday, April 16.
The spring season concludes the weekend of April 23-24 in Louisville. The Wildcats will participate in the Cardinals' 7-on-7 tournament that Saturday, before going to a full 11-on-11 tournament Sunday.
"As a team, we are committed to raising the bar for Northwestern Field Hockey in the 2005 season," said McCollum. "However, we all understand that it begins with this spring. The players and coaches are fully invested in using the spring competitions to establish our team's standard of play going into the 2005 competitive season."
