No. 5 Northwestern Defeats Tulane, 5-2

EVANSTON, Ill. - Despite dropping the opening doubles point to Tulane Saturday, fifth-ranked Northwestern rallied to win five of six singles matches en route to a 5-2 overall victory in the Wildcats' final competition at the USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championship.
Senior Andrea Yung (San Marino, Calif./San Marino) made her first appearance in the tournament, winning at the No. 6 position 6-4, 6-3 against Magas. The win moves Yung to 2-0 on the year.
Sophomore Jamie Peisel (Savannah, Ga./Savannah Country Day) continued her perfect singles run in the tournament, improving to 3-0 over three days. She defeated Darya Ivanov in straight sets 6-1, 7-5.
The top-ranked doubles duo in the nation -- freshman Audra Cohen (Plantation, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) and junior Cristelle Grier (Epsom, England/Putney) -- got back on track with a 9-8 win against Tulane. The tandem had dropped its previous two matches.
Northwestern returns home for its next competition, taking on William & Mary at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11 in the Combe Tennis Center.
