EVANSTON, Ill. - Sixth-ranked Northwestern (33-4) travels to South Bend, Ind. Saturday through Sunday, Feb. 26 and 27 for the Midwest Conference Championships.

The Wildcat have two-straight third-place finishes, took second in 2002 and claimed first place back in 2001.

Last year, foilest Julia Földi (Budapest, Hungary/Szent Istavan Gimnazium) and sabreist Lauren Van Gieson (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) each took home bronze medals.

Jessica Florendo (Forest Hills, N.Y./The Dwight School) took fifth and Christina Wang (Milpitas, Calif./Castilleja) came in sixth to round out the top-10 performances of the NU foil squad.

In sabre, Van Gieson led her squad for the second-consecutive year, edging Lauren Dunn (Sacramento, Calif./Del Campo) and Emily Pasternak (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier), who nabbed sixth and seventh, respectively.

Sharon Sullivan (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) paced the epee squad by ending up in sixth. Kelsey Nencheck (Morristown, N.J./Morristown), meanwhile, followed at seventh and Sarah Gravlee (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) was eighth.

With a 51-5 record so far this year, Foldi now stands just four victories shy of tying Sara Heiden's school record of 361 wins. She is trying to become Head Coach Laurie Schiller's first four-time All-American.

Next week the `Cats travel to Detroit, Mich. for the NCAA Midwest Regional Sunday, March 6.
