EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head men's tennis coach Paul Torricelli has announced senior Adam Schaechterle (Oconomowoc, Wis./Kettle Moraine) will serve as team captain for the 2005-06 season.

Schaechterle, the squad's lone senior, has compiled a 47-53 career-singles record. He has also been one of the team's most consistent doubles players over the past three years, posting a 58-58 record.

"Adam has had some big wins for us. He has played a lot of singles and a lot of doubles at Northwestern, and has a wealth of tennis experience. He is the emotional leader of this team and is someone that the rest of the team looks up to. He's going to be our leader this year," Torricelli said.

Schaechterle and the Wildcats begin the 2006 season at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8 at home against Illinois-Chicago.
