EVANSTON, Ill. -- After opening the 2005-06 season two weekends ago, Northwestern returns to the pool at 5 p.m. Friday in West Lafayette, Ind., for its first taste of Big Ten action this year.

The Wildcats will face host Purdue and Michigan State for a conference double-dual meet in their first action since the NU Relays on Oct. 23.

Northwestern began the year with a dual meet victory at UW-Milwaukee before capturing the title in its own five-team NU Relays.

In the season's first Quick 50 published by Taper & Shave, senior Katie Paglini (Chicago, Ill./Latin School) ranks in the top 50 of the 200 back.

As a team, the Wildcats' relays all rank in the top 40, led by the 800 free relay at No. 14 with a time of 7:38.73. The 200 free relay is ranked No. 21, the 400 medley is 26th, the 400 free is rated No. 28 and the 200 medley relay rounds out the list with the 39th-fastest time in the nation.

Northwestern's divers return to the boards off a second-place finish at the UIC Diving Invite, an incredible accomplishment considering just two divers competed in the meet.

Junior Leanne Dumais (Ventura, Calif./Buena) broke the school record on the 1-meter board to take first place, while freshman Chelsea Davis (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) won the 3-meter event.

The pair have finished 1-2 in all four events they have competed in this season, with both winning twice.
