Northwestern to Face No. 14 Iowa

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's field hockey team is set to play No. 14 Iowa at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, in Iowa City, Iowa.
Northwestern is 6-4 overall, 0-2 in Big Ten play heading into the match. Northwestern is coming off a 3-2 home loss to No. 10 Ohio State on Saturday. Jill Putnam (Greenfield, Mass./Greenfield) and Noreen Stewart (Farmington, Conn./Farmington) both scored for the 'Cats, and junior goalkeeper Sherri-Anne Nyberg (Kelowna, British Columbia/Kelowna Secondary) recorded 12 saves in the match. The Wildcats were only the third team this season to keep the Buckeyes' fourth-ranked offense scoreless in the first half.
Iowa is 7-4 overall, 1-1 in the Big Ten. The Hawkeyes are coming off a 3-2 home win over No. 9 Michigan. The Hawkeyes are led by Caitlin McCurdy who has 18 points on six goals and six assists on the year.
Officially, this game will not be considered a Big Ten match, and will not count in conference standings. Northwestern will play Iowa in a Big Ten match at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14 at the Leonard B. Thomas Athletic Complex.
