COLUMBUS, Ohio -- After almost an hour of scoreless play, three goals were scored within a 15 minute span and Northwestern came out on the short end, falling to Ohio State, 2-1. Junior John Carlstedt (Indianapolis, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit) scored his third goal of the season in the match.

After keeping Ohio State scoreless in the first half, the Buckeyes lit up the scoreboard first in the 58th minute, for the 1-0 lead.

Carlstedt came through in the 72nd minute when he controlled a Gerardo Alvarez (Aurora, Ill./Marmion Academy) rebound and sent it to the net, tying the score 1-1.

Two minutes later, however, the Buckeyes scored on a set piece when Ryan Kustos sent home a header following a free kick for the match winner.

Sophomore goalkeeper Will Briley (Longview, Texas/Longview) tallied five saves in the match.

For the match, Ohio State enjoyed an 18-8 shot advantage, as well as a 4-3 corner kick advantage.

With the loss, Northwestern drops to 8-5-2 on the season, 1-3-1 in the Big Ten.

The Wildcats return to action at Noon Sunday, Oct. 30 against Butler.
