EVANSTON, Ill. -- Four different Wildcats scored while Northwestern used a 9-2 shots-on-goal advantage to roll past Loyola (Ill.), 4-0 Wednesday at the Leonard B. Thomas Athletic Complex. Northwestern notched two goals in each half and recorded its fifth shutout of the season to improve to 7-4 overall, 5-0 at home.

The Wildcats started the scoring in the 33rd minute when Gerardo Alvarez (Aurora, Ill./Marmion Academy) beat the Loyola keeper right on a penalty shot to give Northwestern a 1-0 lead.

Brad Napper (Dallas, Texas/Jesuit College Prep) made the score 2-0 right before half when John Carlstedt (Indianapolis, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit) served in a corner to Adam Sirois (Dover, N.H./Berwick Academy) who one-timed it to Napper.

Northwestern went into halftime enjoying a 9-2 shot advantage and didn't miss a beat going into the second half.

Carlstedt and Sirois teamed up again on a corner kick, this time setting up Jaro Pylypczak (Lombard, Ill./Benet Academy) for his second goal of the season.

"I was happy with our set pieces. We executed them well and our first three goals were on set pieces," head coach Tim Lenahan said.

Sophomore David Roth (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade College Prep) found Brad North (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands) for the fourth time this season, giving Northwestern a four-goal lead. With the assist, Roth tied the school mark for career assists with 20.

For the match, the Wildcats held the advantage on both sides of the ball. Sophomore goalminder Will Briley (Longview, Texas/Longview) recorded his third shutout of the season with the win

Northwestern is back in action at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16 to tangle with the national-champion Indiana Hoosiers at the LBT Athletic Complex.
