TUCSON, Ariz. -- In a double-dual meet featuring a trio of ranked teams, it was No. 23 Northwestern which came out on the short end of the competition. NU dropped decisions to No. 4 Arizona, 189.5-151.5, and No. 24 Washington, 172.5-168.5.

Coming into the second day of competiton, 'Zona held a comfortable lead over both NU and Washington while the Huskies and Northwestern were tied.

Sophomore diver Leanne Dumais won the 3-meter board competition, defeating a pair of Arizona divers with her score of 266.56.

Brielle Bovee also scored first-place points in the 100 Breast (1:03.84) for Northwestern.

Collecting second-place points for NU were Amy Mueller in the 1000 Free (10:23.13), Andrea Hupman in the 200 Free (1:53.07), Christy Olin in the 200 Fly (2:04.43), Carrera Harris in the 200 Back (59.32) and Bovee in the 200 IM (2:08.75).

The Wildcat 400 Free Relay team of Katie Welnhofer, Ashley Welnhofer, Hupman and Lori Schwanhausser swam a 3:28.54, finishing second by a mere .17 seconds.

Northwestern returns to action at 4 p.m. Friday when it hosts Illinois.
