EVANSTON, Ill. - USA Swimming's 5K and 10K Open Water Championships were held Friday, June 4 (5K) and Sunday, June 6 (10K) at Fort Myers Beach, Fla., and Northwestern's Erica Rose captured the 10K crown for the third year in a row with a time of 2:04.56. The title adds to a vast collection of open-water titles the Wildcat swimmer has collected during her collegiate career.

Rose was also scheduled to compete in the 25K Open Water Championship race Tuesday (June 8).

In the other races from the weekend, Dan DeMarco of the Long Island Aquatic Club won both men's events, with times of 58:13 and 1:53:17, while Beth Byrum of Klein Aquatics (Spring, Texas) won the women's 5K with a time of 1:06:44.

In the relay events, the New York Athletic club captured the men's 5K title with a combined time of 3:28:45. Y Team Orlando won the women's 5K relay with a combined time of 3:45.04. Meanwhile, Highlander A won the mixed 5K relay with a time of 3:33:49. In the 10K relays, it was Fort Lauderdale Swim Team that stood atop the men's standings (6:14:17), Swim Florida "A" atop the women's standings (7:32:41) and Fort Lauderdale atop the mixed standings (7:23.26)

In the final team standings, DeMarco's Long Island Aquatic Club took the men's title in the 5K race with 20 points, while Swim Florida took the women's team title with 27 points. In the 10K, Fort Lauderdale Swim Team finished first in the men's standings with 50 points, while Y Team Orlando tied Swim Florida with 23 points for the women's 10K title. Fort Lauderdale finished first in the combined team totals in the 10K race, and Y Team Orlando topped the combined team totals in the 5K race.
