EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern continued its hot play Sunday afternoon, rolling out to an 11-0 lead against Denver and ultimately taking a 16-4 decision from the Pioneers at the Leonard B. Thomas Athletic Complex.

The win was NU's 13th in a row, continuing the second-longest streak in the nation. The Wildcats (14-1) have one final regular-season game left (Thursday at home vs. Vanderbilt).

The 'Cats scored 3:49 into the contest when Aly Josephs finished a feed from Kristen Kjellman, and the duo hooked up again eight minutes later to give NU a 2-0 lead. The goals came quickly after that -- Kjellman at 13:49, Laura Glassanos on the free position at the 15-minute mark, Lindsey Munday just 21 seconds after that, and Jenny Bush at 16:20 to make the score 6-0.

The roll continued in the final 10 minutes of the break; meanwhile, at the other end, Denver was managing just one shot during the run of play and one free-position attempt that NU goalkeeper Ashley Gersuk was equal to.

Denver finally got on the board just 37 seconds into the second half, when Alyssia Passavia finished a feed from Patience Baldwin. Northwestern answered back during the next 10 minutes with goals from Angela McMahon, before Passavia scored another goal to make the score 13-2.

Northwestern, which substituted liberally starting late in the first half, had one final run with three goals in a four minute span by Josephs, Annie Elliott and Minnie Doherty. The Pioneers finished the scoring when Alexis Shipman and Steph Greenlees managed to beat Meredith Philipp.

Northwestern's game Thursday with Vanderbilt has suddenly become a high-stakes affair -- with Johns Hopkins losing to Penn State Saturday, the winner of the Wildcat-Commodore game will earn the ALC's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Tournament. Face-off is slated for 4 p.m. at the Thomas Athletic Complex.
