EVANSTON, Ill. - Junior goalkeeper Ashley Gersuk was one of six women named to the insidelacrosse.com and womenslacrosse.com National Honor Rolls following a pair of double-digit save performances this weekend in California.
Gersuk -- who earned national recognition and American Lacrosse Conference Player of the Week honors earlier this season after the Ohio State game -- recorded 14 saves in NU's 11-5 win over No. 19 Stanford last Friday, then followed that up with 12 more stops before giving way to Meredith Philipp late in the Wildcats' 16-4 win at California on Easter Sunday.
The insidelacrosse.com National Player of the Week was Kelly Coppedge from Maryland, while the womenslacrosse.com National Player of the Week was Gail Decker from James Madison.
In addition, NU continued to climb the IWLCA national coaches poll, moving to No. 11 this week. It is the highest ranking the 'Cats have had in the poll since they were brought back as a varsity program in 2002.
Northwestern is on the road once again this weekend, taking on ALC conference foe No. 18 Penn State; it will be the Wildcats' ninth road game out of 11 so far this season. Following that contest, NU is home for its final five regular-season contests. Among those five games is a meeting with the current No. 2 team in the country (Notre Dame) and three ALC matchups (Johns Hopkins, Ohio, Vanderbilt).
