PARRISH, Fla. -- Northwestern's Alice Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood) gave herself an early birthday present Tuesday with a career-best fourth-place showing in the Central District Classic played at River Wilderness Golf Club.

The freshman, who turns 19 on Friday, matched a career-low with an even-par 72 in the first round Monday before putting together solid back-to-back rounds of 75 to finish at 6-over par, two strokes behind a trio of players tied for first.

The Wildcats fired a 17-over 305, one stroke short of Texas A&M's 304, for Tuesday's second-best team round. The strong final day allowed the 'Cats to climb a notch and finish in sixth place in the 15-team event. Northwestern finished one stroke behind No. 24 Arkansas after an eagle by Razorback Sarah Trew on her second-to-last hole proved to be too much for NU to overcome.

No. 26 LSU won the tournament, besting No. 16 Michigan State by three strokes.

Freshman Kelly Robb (Concord, Mass./Middlesex School) jumped five places on the final day with a 4-over 76, her best round of the event. She finished 16-over (77-79-76=232) for the tournament, good for 27th place overall. Junior Ina Kim (Encino, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) also climbed on the final day, finishing 6-over for the day and 19-over (76-81-78=235) in the event. She rose two spots to place 36th. Junior Mary Ellen Grzebien (Saunderstown, R.I./Narrangansett) finished 47th at 24-over.

Senior Lauren Grzebien (Saunderstown, R.I./Narrangansett) shot a 4-over 76 on Tuesday, but overall she was disqualified after a DQ in Monday's first round.

Final results are available for the tournament by linking to Central District Classic. Additional information on the tournament can be found at Michigan State Women's Golf.

Northwestern returns to action next week in the Texas A&M "Mo"Morial in Houston, Texas, on March 1-2.
