Northwestern Slips to Seventh Place in Central District Classic

PARRISH, Fla. -- After the first two rounds of play in the Central District Classic, 36th-ranked Northwestern stands in seventh place, 24 strokes behind 26th-ranked tourney leader LSU.
Freshman Alice Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood) is currently sixth overall after shooting a career best even-par 72 in the first round. She followed that effort with a 3-over 75 during the afternoon round, and currently lurks three strokes behind Wisconsin's Malinda Johnson.
The Wildcats were in fourth place in the 15-team field following the first round of play, but slipped three spots in the second round. NU trails sixth-place Texas Tech by four strokes, and holds a two-stroke advantage over No. 34 Baylor. Northwestern is also currently ahead of fellow Big Ten foes Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana and Minnesota.
Freshman Kelly Robb (Concord, Mass./Middlesex School) finished the second round tied for 32nd at 12-over (77-79=156). Juniors Ina Kim (Encino, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) (78-79=157) and Mary Ellen Grzebien (Saunderstown, R.I./Narragansett) (76-81=157) are one stroke behind Robb in a tie for 38th place.
Senior Lauren Grzebien (Saunderstown, R.I./Narragansett) shot a 10-over 82 in the first round before being disqualified in the second round.
