MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Northwestern closed out the Big Ten Championships, placing seventh overall with 222 points. Michigan claimed the Big Ten team title with 604.5 points. Junior Christy Olin posted Northwestern's best finish in the last two seasons, taking second in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:58.87.

Olin, who consistently had one of the top times in both the 100 and 200 yard butterfly throughout the season, could not catch Penn State's Amber Biedermann, who finished exactly one second ahead of Olin for the title. Olin finshed fifth in the 100 fly yesterday, giving Northwestern its two best showings in the championships.

Diver Leanne Duamis qualified for the final round in the platform event, where she finshed eighth with a score of 349.50. Dumais also finished eighth and ninth in the one-and-three-meter events as well.

Sophomore Katie Paglini took first in the "B Final" in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:59.48, which was good enough for ninth overall.

NU had two top-15 finishers in the 1650 freestyle. Seniors Vicky West and Erica Rose finished 12th and 13th with times of 16:41.12 and 16:44.98, respectively.
