Wildcats Finish Strong at North American Cup

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern had a successful trip to Richmond, Va. over the weekend, competing well in the United States Fencing Association (USFA) North American Cup (NAC).
In the Division I epee competition, sophomore Courtney DuBois (Chatham, N.J./Oak Knoll) finished 36th out of 90 participants. Junior Sharon Sullivan (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) posted a 74th-place finish.
Sophomore Jessica Florendo (Forest Hills, N.Y./The Dwight School) was the only Wildcat to place in the foil competition, posting a 29th-place finish out of 61 participants. It was the second-consecutive strong finish for Florendo, who came in 28th at the 2003 NAC.
In the sabre competition, senior Lauren Van Gieson (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) finished 36th and sophomore Sophie Eustis (Andover, Mass. (Concord Academy) finished 52nd.
