EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern Men's Tennis Head Coach Paul Torricelli has announced the signing of two men to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period. Marc Dwyer and Andrew Hoffman will join the Wildcats next year as members of the class set to graduate in 2009.

Dwyer -- a 5'11," 160-lb. right-hander -- hails from Peachtree City, Ga. and is currently ranked No. 19 nationally by the USTA. He won the Peach State Classic in May of 2004. He has performed well all over the globe, playing his way into the quarterfinals at the Atlas Cup in Guadalupe, Mexico last year. Dwyer was a quarterfinalist again at the National Open in Austin, Texas in March of 2004. Dwyer chose NU over Michigan, Harvard, UVA, Ohio State and Penn State. His brother, James Dwyer, is currently a sophomore on the Nittany Lions' tennis roster.

"We are delighted with Marc's decision to join us next year. He's the blue-chip recruit we were looking for and will make an immediate impact in both singles and doubles. He's a terrific competitor who will have no trouble making the transition to college tennis," Torricelli said.

Hoffman is a Fremont, Neb. native who competed in the Nebraska State High School Singles Finals in 2004. Hoffman -- a 6'4," 194-lb. left-hander -- is ranked in the top 10 in the USTA Missouri Valley Conference. He chose NU over Wisconsin, Nebraska, Colorado, San Diego State, and Hawaii. His brother, A.C. Hoffman, graduated from NU in 2004.

"Andy has great potential with his size, athletic ability and big lefty serve. He can help us right away, especially in doubles. We're really excited about adding him to our program and watching him develop," Torricelli said.
