'Cats Post Eight Top-10 Finishes at Remenyik Open

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern competed in the Remenyik Open -- its second home tournament -- Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 23 and 24. The `Cats turned in a combined eight top-10 finishes in the foil, sabre and epee competitions.

In the foil, Sophomore Jessica Florendo (Forest Hills, N.Y./The Dwight School) and senior Julia Foldi (Budapest, Hungary/Szent Istavan Gimnazium) tied for third.

The sabre competition yielded four top-10 finishes for NU. Senior co-captain Lauren Dunn (Sacramento, Calif./Del Campo) finished second, senior Lauren Van Gieson (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) placed sixth, sophomore Mai Vu (New York, N.Y./Bronx Science) finished eight, and freshman Gina Annunziato (Bernardsville, N.J./Bernards) took ninth.

Junior Sharon Sullivan (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) placed second in the epee competition, while sophomore Courtney DuBois (Chatham, N.J./Oak Knoll) finished ninth.
