NU Set For Big Ten Battle With Buckeyes

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern travels to Columbus, Ohio, this weekend aiming to win its second Big Ten match of the season against an Ohio State squad still looking for its first.

The Wildcats (7-7, 1-2 Big Ten) defeated Indiana in overtime last weekend to notch their first conference stripe of the year in three matches. NU fell to Big Ten leaders Michigan and Michigan State earlier in the season.

The win was NU's third this season in overtime, bringing its overall mark in extra time to a perfect 3-0. It is the first time since 1996 that the Wildcats are above .500 in OT matches.

Senior Candice Cooper (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) scored three goals last weekend to bring her season total to 16--tied for seventh on NU's single-season list. She is currently tied for 11th on the Wildcats career scoring list with 79 points.

Saturday marks the Buckeyes' final home match of the season. Ohio State enters the match with a 7-6 record, 0-3 in the conference. The Buckeyes are allowing two goals per game while also scoring two goals per match.

NU is scoring at a 2.07 per game clip and giving up 1.79 goals per match.

Yesenia Luces leads OSU with six goals and 13 points. Lindsay Williams has played every minute in the cage for the Buckeyes this season, registering a 1.82 goals against average.
