EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern head volleyball coach Keylor Chan announced the hiring of Jenny Manz as the newest assistant coach. Manz joins Chan and four-year assistant coach Josh Grau to complete the staff.
Manz is no stranger to success on the court. Prior to accepting the assistant's position at Northwestern, Manz played professional volleyball with the Hellenic Women's Professional Volleyball League. She competed at the opposite hitter position with Club Z.A.O.N in Kiffisia, Greece. Manz had seen action at the professional level prior to playing with Club Z.A.O.N, as she played with the United States Professional Volleyball (USPV) League on three separate occasions, including the "Dream Team" and the St. Louis Quest.
An All-America athlete at the University of Florida from 1996-99, Manz led the Gators to three NCAA Final Four appearances and one Elite Eight. She appeared on NCAA Regional Tournament teams for three consecutive years from 1997-99. Also during those years, she earned American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-District 4 honors.
Southeastern Conference (SEC) opponents were terrorized by Manz. She was named SEC Player of the Year twice during her career, just the second player in league history to accomplish the feat. During her career, Manz was named to the All-SEC First Team three times. In 1999, she became the only player in Florida history to earn SEC Player of the Week honors three times in a single season.
During her four-year career at Florida, Manz made quite an impression on the record books. She currently holds the record for most attacks (3,768) and most matches played (147) at Florida. With 1,657 kills, she ranks second among the Gators' all-time leaders, and she is third in digs (1,202), aces (152) and games played (458).
In 2000, Manz graduated from Florida with a B.S. in exercise and sport science with an emphasis on sports management.
