EAST LANSING, Mich. - Eighth-ranked Northwestern lived up to its billing Saturday as one of the nation's elite fencing programs, disposing of four Midwest Collegiate Conference opponents in impressive fashion at the Midwest Duals. NU dropped Michigan State, Wayne State, Michigan and Detroit each by a minimum 15-point margin.

The Wildcats met the host Spartans, and prevailed 22-5. NU is 17-0 against MSU. The 'Cats followed that with a 24-3 win against Wayne State, NU's 16th consecutive win against WSU.

In the afternoon, NU faced Michigan and Detroit. The Wildcats knocked off a tough Wolverine team that features a sabre squad that defeated No. 3 Notre Dame earlier this season. NU's sabreists rolled, though, 8-1, leading the team to a 21-6 win. Northwestern trounced Detroit, 22-5, to close out the day.

With the wins, NU improved to 27-6 on the season. The Wildcats are back in action March 1-2 at the Midwest Conference Championships.
