LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Northwestern completed three days of competition at the Junior World Cup by having two of its fencers finish in the top 25.

Mai Vu (New York, N.Y./Bronx Science) had the best showing for NU, taking 19th in the sabre competition. Fellow sabreist Emily Pasternak (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) ended up 45th in the field of 53.

The other Wildcat in the top 25 was Sharon Sullivan (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport), who placed 21st in the field of 62 epeeists.

Christina Wang (Milpitas, Calif./Castilleja) rounded out Northwestern's showing at the tournament with a 33rd-place finish in the foil competition, which had a field of 53.

"We were hoping we could fence against some Europeans (and not just North Americans), but (the European fencers) were at another tournament," said head coach Laurie Schiller. "It was still a good competition; we are looking forward to this weekend."

The Wildcats return to action this week when they play host to the Northwestern Duals Friday through Sunday at SPAC.
