KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Freshman Kelly Robb (Concord, Mass./Middlesex School), who has finished in the top-15 of her first three collegiate events, is off to another strong start at the Mercedes-Benz Women's Championships, being held at the Fox Den Country Club.
Robb shot an even-par 72 on Sunday and is tied for seventh place after the tourney's first round. Pernilla Lindberg, playing for the Swedish Junior National team, is the leader with a 2-under 70.
As a team, the Wildcats are in 12th place. Northwestern, which is ranked 44th in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rating, shot a 19-under 307 and is 16 strokes off the team lead.
Freshman Alice Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood) is in 34th place after firing a 4-over 76. Junior Ina Kim (Encino, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) is in 58th place at 7-over (79). The Grzebien sisters, Mary Ellen Grzebien (Saunderstown, R.I./Narragansett) and Lauren Grzebien are in 68th and 81st place, respectively, with opening rounds of 80 and 84.
