BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Northwestern headed to Indiana this weekend desperately needing to get its offense back on track heading into the final weeks of the season.

In the match against No. 18 California--played in Bloomington-- the Wildcats had both their offense and defense clicking in a 3-0 win over the Golden Bears.

Senior Katie Walshauser started things off at 10:17 when she took a ball that was deflected by the goalie and fired it into the back of the goal to give the 'Cats a 1-0 lead.

Less than eight minutes later, the Wildcats extended their lead to 2-0 when Candice Cooper scored the first of her two goals off a penalty shot at 17:57.

Cooper delivered the final blow at 40:50 when she beat California goalkeeper Kelly Knapp for the 'Cats final goal. The goal capped a six point performance on the weekend for Cooper. She scored in yesterday's 3-2 win over Indiana.

NU's attack applied heavy pressure throughout the match and created seven penalty corner opportunities.

Freshman goalie Sherri-Anne Nyberg put a stellar match together in goal. She stopped all five shots Cal sent her direction en route to the shutout. With the weekend sweep, NU moves its record back to .500 (7-7) on the season. The Wildcats will look to pick up their second conference win on Oct. 26 when they take on the Iowa Hawkeyes at the Leonard B. Thomas Sports Complex.
