Northwestern women's golf coach Chris Regenberg has announced the hiring of Jamie Fischer as an assistant coach. Fischer had been serving as a volunteer assistant coach for Northwestern, and replaces Mike Henry who resigned in December to take a golf coaching position in Florida.
Fischer brings an impressive resume of teaching experience to Northwestern. She has provided instruction at the Todd Stones Impact Golf School and the Kevin Walker Golf Perfomance Center, working directly under Stones and Walker, two of Golf Magazine's "Top 100 Instructors." Fischer also served a tour of duty at the Jim McLean Golf School, Golf Magazine's No.1-ranked golf school in the country. Fischer has appeared as a guest instructor on the The Golf Channel's popular program "Academy Live."
The Dayton, Ohio native also adds competitive experience to the program, having played as a touring professional from 1991-95. She competed in tournaments in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Japan and Spain.
Fischer played collegiate golf at the University of Texas at Austin from 1986-91. She served as team captain from 1989-91 and garnered Verizon Academic All-America honors her senior year. Fischer graduated in 1991 with a bachelor of science in speech communication and a bachelor of journalism in news and public affairs reporting. She earned both degrees with honors.
This will be Fischer's second collegiate coaching job, her first being a stint as an assistant at Texas in 1994.
