EVANSTON, Ill. - Kelly McCollum, a 1995 Northwestern graduate, has been promoted to associate head field hockey coach announced today by head coach Marisa Didio. McCollum has assisted Didio since the 2000 season.
"Kelly has demonstrated total dedication to Northwestern field hockey," said Didio. "I am pleased to accelerate her title. It is not only deserved, but it is a compliment to her ability and service to our field hockey program."
Prior to assuming duties at NU, McCollum spent three years as an assistant coach at Northeastern University in Boston, Mass., and two years as an assistant coach at the University of New Hampshire.
Along with her responsibilities at Northwestern, McCollum is involved with the Marisa Didio Midwest Field Hockey Clinic, LLC., and the Windy City Club program.
McCollum has been an active coach within the U.S. Field Hockey Organization and for the past three years has been the head coach for the Under-19 Futures Site, which is held at Northwestern. Most recently, she helped coach the U.S. Under-19 National Team at the 2002 Cal Cup and coached the 2002 B Camp. McCollum also served as a clinician at the 2002 NFHCA Coaches Clinic this last spring.
McCollum earned a chemical engineering degree from Northwestern and is currently pursuing her MBA at Northeastern. As an athlete at NU, she captained the 1994 Big Ten champion field hockey team that played in the NCAA national semifinals and was ranked No. 1 for five consecutive weeks during the season. She was named to the All-American Midwest Regional team and was an All-Big Ten selection in 1993 and 1994.
