EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern hosts Northern Illinois Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Lakeside Field in its final match before the conference season begins. The Wildcats enter the match with a 3-4-0 record, while the Huskies are 2-6-0.

"Northern Illinois is a young team," said NU Head Coach Tim Lenahan. "They are a team that is like us; they are looking to find themselves."

Northwestern comes into the match having lost its last two, including a 3-0 loss to Wisconsin-Milwaukee last Wednesday. Northern Illinois began the year with four straight losses but have since won its last two of four.

Sophomore Bernhard Hagevik leads the Huskies with a goal and an assist. Thomas Meiner also has a goal to go with a team-high 17 shots.

NU met NIU last season and ended up in a 2-2 tie. Northwestern trailed 2-1 with a little more than 10 minutes remaining before Victor Boni (Scarsdale, N.Y./Scarsdale) netted the game-tying goal. Northern Illinois owns the series advantage 14-2-3.

"We had a little time off after the Wisconsin-Milwaukee game," Lenahan said. "So we're looking forward to getting back after it."
