EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern women's lacrosse player Sarah Albrecht (Braintree, Mass./Thayer Academy), a freshman attacker, was one of four women named to the insidelacrosse.com Honor Roll for national player of the week honors.
The Player of the Week award went to Christine McPike, who led North Carolina to the ACC Tournament title. The other women on the Honor Roll were Suzanne Eyler of Loyola (Md.), Jaimee Reynolds of Cornell, and Jess Rogulski of Vanderbilt.
Albrecht had a standout weekend in leading the Wildcats to a 1-1 weekend at Penn State. The freshman had two goals and two assists on Saturday as NU defeated Davidson, 7-6, in a neutral-site American Lacrosse Conference game. One day later, Albrecht was arguably the best player on the field, scoring three goals and dishing out three assists as the Wildcats stayed even with 15th-ranked Penn State for 56 minutes before falling, 13-10. Her six points against the Nittany Lions were the most by a Northwestern player this season.
Albrecht also had five caused turnovers and three ground balls in NU's win over Davidson.
Northwestern is 5-8 heading into a game this week with 10th-ranked Notre Dame. After that, the Wildcats close out their inaugural season back as a varsity on Saturday, May 4, when ALC champion Vanderbilt comes to town.
