MINNEAPOLIS - The Northwestern men's tennis team lost 7-0 to No. 23 Minnesota Friday evening, marking the second defeat at the hands of a top-25 Big Ten Conference team in as many weeks.
The Wildcats (11-7, 4-3 Big Ten) were swept in doubles competition and lost in straight sets in all but one singles match to the Golden Gophers (11-5, 4-2 Big Ten).
At the No. 1 singles spot, Tommy Hanus (Palatine, Ill./Palatine), who is currently ranked No. 118, fell to third-ranked Harsh Mankad, 7-6(3), 6-1. Mankad is the highest-ranked singles player any Wildcat has faced this season.
