SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Northwestern was a dominant presence in all three weapons at the Midwest Fencing Conference Individual Championships, held Sunday at Notre Dame in conjunction with the team conference championships. The 'Cats placed more fencers in the top 10 of each weapon than any other school, including rivals Notre Dame and Ohio State.

Freshman foilist Julia F?ldi (Budapest, Hungary/Szent Istv?n Gimn?zium) was the highest-placing Wildcat, taking second. NU took up nearly half the places in the top 10 of women's foil, as Kate Rudkin (Boulder, Colo./Boulder), Kristen Dorf (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) and Maggie Kebrdle (South Bend, Ind./St. Joseph's) finished sixth, seventh and ninth, respectively. Rudkin, an All-America ep?eist who helped NU to the team ep?e title Saturday, decided to fence a different weapon in Sunday's action and proved to be just as successful.

Women's ep?e was led by seniors Jennifer Greenebaum (Mendham, N.J./Pingry School), who took fourth, and Lynn Zuckerman (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo), who placed fifth.

The Wildcats posted a five-six-seven finish in women's sabre, as Marijke Weldon (Gainesville, Ga./Lakeview Academy), Laurel Scherffius (Charlotte, N.C./Northwest School of the Arts) and Kate Frambach (Elm Grove, Wis./Catholic Memorial) secured NU's place in the top 10.

The next competition for the 'Cats is the Midwest Regional Championships, an individual event that takes place March 9 in Cleveland.
