ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - A gusty day in Albuquerque pushed New Mexico past Northwestern's baseball team, 19-7, Sunday, leaving the 'Cats with only one weekend win over the Lobos.

NU (2-5) couldn't stop the barrage of hits from UNM, who had a total of 25 as every starter recorded at least one hit and one run. The Lobos jumped out early on NU starter Gabe Ribas with four runs in the first inning. Ribas (0-1) threw five innings, giving up 10 runs (nine earned) while striking out two.

A bright spot for the Wildcats was junior Brandon Ackley's (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) two-run home run in the third, his first of the season and third of his career.

The Wildcats tallied two runs in the sixth inning, benefiting from three Lobo fielding errors.

Senior outfielder Steve Haake (Belleville, Ill./Gibault) remained consistent at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a leadoff double in the first. Haake is hitting .375 on the season with a team-leading 32 plate appearances.

The Wildcats are next in action when they travel to Kansas for a three-game series in Lawrence. Game 1 is set for Mar. 1 at 3 p.m.
